NSC Members, meet Jon Biasetti! He has an incredibly captivating story that is so thrilling to share, it's hard to condense it into just a few paragraphs!
Born in Rio de Janeiro, from American parents, Jon's upbringing wove together the sun-drenched beaches of Rio and the historic streets of Rome, all thanks to his father, Mario Biasetti, who was assigned overseas as a reporter and producer for CBS News and later for Fox News for 72 consecutive years. A true polyglot, Jon effortlessly converses in Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and English. If you share a language, engage him at the club and listen to his seamless transitions! In his youth, Jon was an aspiring archaeologist and explored dig sites in Italy and Egypt. Destiny led him back to the United States in the early 80s to pursue law instead of living the life of Indiana Jones. Now, he resides in Kenilworth with his wife, Joan, and their dog, Rory. When he isn’t at NSC, he enjoys pistol shooting, antiquing, collecting vintage military wrist watches, and listening to his parents' old Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis records on vinyl.
Young Jon
In April 2024, during Jon's first visit to NSC as a guest of longtime member and neighbor Adrian, he spent two hours on the sporting clay courses but unfortunately didn't hit a single target! He was aiming… While many would feel discouraged and throw in the towel, his inner motivation pushed him to keep going. He still caught the bug and became truly passionate about our sport!
Jon joined the club that same day and has been here weekly ever since! He takes lessons from Rod Vetter, for whom he feels immense gratitude for his exceptional ability to work with beginners and assist them in breaking clays. Eager to elevate his skills, he acquired a Caesar Guerini Challenger Ascent and is thrilled to report that he can now hold his own on the green course, eagerly anticipating the Northbrook Sports Club monthlies ahead!
If you spot Jon at the club, don’t hesitate to say Ciao or Hello!
Bonus Fun Fact: In his childhood, Jon and his sister often accompanied their model/actress mother to film sets at the famous “Hollywood on the Tiber” movie studios, a historic American filming location in Rome. In a delightful twist of fate, in his late teens, Jon appeared as an extra in the Pia Zadora and Ray Liotta film The Lonely Lady. The director, believing nobody would remember him on screen (ouch!), cast him in three separate roles for the movie! The film, however, earned infamy, winning six Golden Razzies, including Worst Picture of the Year! 🤣 Watch closely, and perhaps you might catch a glimpse of him! Jon said that Pia Zadora was lovely to work with but that the very young Ray Liotta channeled his future tough guy character in the movie hit, Goodfellas…
